Céiliúradh 20 Bliain:
Go raibh míle maith agaibh do bhur moltaí, buíochas
agus comhghairdeachas d’ár gcéiliúradh 20
Bliain. Gan dabht bhí an-lá ann, le Cabhair mhór
ó Pháidí Ó Lionaird mar Fhear an Tí.
Chomh maith leis sin bhí an t-ádh linn leis an dea-aimsir!
Mo mhíle buíochas do gach ball ar Choiste na dTuismitheoirí
and all the additional helpers – it was a super team effort and
fabulous work was done by all to co-ordinate the big undertaking that
was involved. Mo bhuíochas freisin d’fhoireann na scoile
agus an obair déanta do na páistí agus an scoil
a ullmhú. A lot of people past parents and pupils as well as
you, the present parents mentioned how much they enjoyed the photographic
and DVD displays as well as being able to take a walk throughout the
school, seeing all the children’s work. Go raibh míle maith
agaibh, for your tremendous support in sending in prizes for the raffle
– there was a super selection on the day! Thanks so much also,
for all the apples and juicers etc. you sent in – there was a
great ‘meitheal oibre’ preparing for the big day! I thought
many of you might like to have a read of the lovely poem which was read
and presented
to me on the day. We will frame it with some photos of the occasions
and enjoy it for the next 20 years! Gaelscoil Abú!
Cláracha Bána Idirghníomhacha
With just 3 more Interactive Whiteboards to get to have one in every
class in the school, our Jack and Jill Recycled Phone collection is
getting us nearer to the next one. We now have 422, and we need 500!
Maith sibh a chuir isteach iad agus ar aghaidh linn leis an 78 eile
be bhur dtoil chun an chéad C.B.I. eile a fháil.
Obair Bhaile
Táimid ag tabhairt faoin ár dtaighde bliaintúil
ar an méid ama a chaitheann bhur bpáistí ar obair
bhaile where we would ask you to write down the length of time your
child is spending each evening for the coming month beside where you
sign your child’s dialann.
Tá cúpla pointe maidir leis an obair bhaile gur mhaith
liom a chur in iúl daoibh arís. The following are a number
of reminders with regard to Obair Bhaile from Rang 1-6
i) I Rang a 2 children should be learning to do their Obair Bhaile independently;
taking out their books, doing their obair bhaile including táblaí,
spellings (following the look, spell, cover, write, check method).
From Rang 3 up the children should be able to work independently and
in an organised way, as the year progresses:
ii) Your help is required for the final part of your child’s Obair
Bhaile. This should consist of checking written work and ensuring it
is up to a good standard, a check on táblaí as Gaeilge,
a quick written test of spellings, listening to your child reading aloud
(in all classes) and asking questions based on the text. This test for
comprehension is very important from the junior classes up to Rang a
6.
iii) Please tick each element of your child’s homework WHEN YOU
HAVE CHECKED IT and sign an Leabhar Notaí Obair Bhaile. Please
drop a quick note if your child has any problem.
iv) Children who do not have part of their obair Bhaile done and do
not have a nóta will receive a ¼, ½ or full spóta
dearg.
v) As your support for your children’s obair Bhaile is generally
excellent, gabhaimid buíochas libh agus iarraimid oraibh é
a choimead suas.
Banna Ceoil:
Táimid ag tógáil sosa ar feadh cúpla seachtain
anois tar éis an méid oibre a rinneamar ag ullmhú
don Chéiliúradh 20 Bliain. However if your child is in
Rang 2-6 and not in the Banna Ceoil already but would like to join,
please write me a short note.

Eadaí Scoile:
An féidir liom a chur in iúl daoibh that pupils should
wear red socks or tights with shorts and skirts, and that only pupils
from rang 3-6 may wear plain black boots.
Spoirt: Iománaíocht:
Hurling returns next Tuesday with Tommy for rang 4-6, buachaillí
agus cailíní and on Wednesdays for rang 2 agus 3 with
Robert Ryan. Children playing must wear helmet and boots. We have a
small number of 2nd hand helmets available at €20 and Kim will
have flyers san oifig for purchasing new helmets at the subsidised rate
of €40.
Peil:
Maith sibh, a pháistí a d’imir le deánaí
sna cluichí peile. Bhí an-chliuche Dé Máirt
in aghaidh Borrisoleigh agus chríochnaigh sé ar chomh-scór.
Ár mbuíochas d’Eamonn O’Brien don cabhair
a thugann sé do na páistí sa pheil agus sna iománaíocht.
Sacar:
Ár moladh do James Scott agus an FAI don deis a thug sé
do rang 2,4&5 in giving them a 4 week course of soccer skills which
the children have really enjoyed and benefited from.
Féile Liteartha Drom Inbhir:
Comhghairdeachas le Sinéad de Longe i Rang a 3 bhuaigh duais
sa chomórtas filíochta atá mar chuid na féile.
Maith sibh a pháistí uilig a ghlac páirt!

Tinreamh
Ar an iomlán, tá tinreamh na bpáistí an-mhaith
sa scoil seo. Could I remind you, that in order for a child to be considered
“ar scoil” he/she must be in until at least, or by, 10.30a.m.
However, if a child is due to arrive after that time, he/she can be
marked “ar scoil” if the Múinteoir Ranga has prior
knowledge.
Lípéidí
Ba mhaith linn a chur in iúl daoibh arís go bhfuil géarghá
le hainm bhur bpáiste a bheith ar gach rud. “My Nametags”
is the name of a company which makes identity labels for clothes, lunchboxes
etc. If you are interested in ordering go to www.nametags.ie or please
ask Kim san oifig. We would please ask you to label everything –
it’s the only way to identify items. If you can put some identifiable
mark on the outside of your child’s red or green school jacket
please also do so to faciliatate your child recognising it at speed
sa seomra ranga.
Leabhair
Have you books of any type that you are finished with? We welcome school
books and library books at any time and now have a box into which the
children can put them directly! Míle buíochas!
Fraincís
Tá an-áthas orainn go bhfuil Fanny Healy-Bernard ar ais
linn ag múineadh Fraincíse do rang 3-6. Once again, we
are delighted to qualify for the grant for teaching a foreign language
in the primary school!
Go raibh maith agaibh do bhur n-aird, Is Mise, Le meas, Inez Uí
Éanáin
