Sacraimintí
Clárú: Rang a 2 don Chéad Fhaoistin agus Chéad Comaoineach. Foai láthair, tá Rang a 2 ag ullmhú don Chláru Dé Domhnaigh agus tá fáilté romhaibh go léir teacht chuig an aifreann Gaeilge seo

Gaeilge
Ag an gComhdháil Náisiúnta Ghaelscoileanna le déanaí a huge amount of time was given to ‘Tumoideachas – Sároideachas’; and how we need to be consistent in our support of creating an environment ‘lán – Ghealach’ for our children in order to assist their attaintment of fluency as Gaeilge. This, we can all work on! We ask for your support at home - that you would speak ‘as Gaeilge’ as much as possible with your children and that you would support all things Irish, which also supports our school ethos! Ar scoil, as you know, we have a very successful system of rewarding those we speak as Gaeilge on a continuous basis. However a certain number of children can be quite defiant in not even making an effort, and we find we now need to sanction these children following a number of steps commencing with a verbal warning, as with all other rules of the school. If you are ever aware that your child is breaking this rule, we ask that you would give us maximum support in endeavoring to ensure that it doesn’t reoccur.
You will possibly have followed the talk and discussion in the media over the past number of months with regard to an tAire Oideachais having Circulated Gaelscoileanna instructing that all must commence teaching English by the second term of Naíonáin Bheaga. This however doesn’t affect us as we commence it from the beginning. Like many other Gaelscoileanna we believe that due to the fact that our children come to school with, at most a very small vocabulary as Gaeilge, that they should begin to learn to read in their first language progressing on to reading ‘as Gaeilge’ when they have reached a certain competency ‘ó bhéal’. We find our system to be working very successfully, the high results the children achieve in national standardized tests being one sign of this. The regular praise we receive from Inspectors, the high level of enjoyment our pupils receive from reading as well as the success that our pupils have in English agus as Gaeilge in Secondary school, also support our approach. However, the fact that we do put a very significant emphasis on teaching every element of the English curriculum so thoroughly means that we need to ensure that an extra effort is made on the Gaelige ó bhéal as our communication lay wage of the school and on the support you give us from home, when you enter the school etc.

Cúla 4, TG4
Ag leanúint ar aghaidh le téama na Gaeilge; artwork, letters, photos and birthday requests for children can be submitted to the TV programme Cúla 4 @ TG4 , Baile na hAbhainn, Co na Gaillimhe nó e-mail: cula4@tg4.ie

Boscaí ‘Christmas Child’
Comhghairdeachas agus maith sibh arís do na boscaí áille a chuir sibh isteach leis na páistí arís i mbliana. Tá sibh ar fheabhas!

Aonach Na Nollag
Go raibh míle maith agaibh as ucht na bréagáin, leabhair, málaí a thabhairt isteach. Táimid cinnte go mbeidh lá iontach againn ar an 7ú de mhí na Nollag.
Thank you to all who brought in items for Aonach na Nollag. We still welcome any more contributions! We just have one more stand to cater for and that is our coffee shop. We would be grateful if you could send in any beverages, buns and biscuits on Thursday 6th the day before the fair.
We recommend that the infants bring a sum of money no larger than €5 and ranganna 1-6 bring a sum no larger than €10. We would gratefully appreciate it if children could bring in small change ie. coins of 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c agus €1 to amounts no larger then mentioned above. The children are not to bring in notes.
If any parent is free to help out with the fair we would appreciate the support or if you just want to come to browse with your children you would be extremely welcome. We have a fantastic stall for adults with plenty of bargains. Also there well be a raffle with lots of lovely prizes.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the day! Go raibh maith agaibh as ucht bhur dtacaíocht.
Norma
